When acute symptoms cannot be safely managed in the home setting, hospice patients may need to be cared for in an inpatient setting under the General Inpatient (or “GIP”) level of hospice care. GIP care is designed for short-term symptom management and stabilization, typically for five to seven days. Hope Hospice provides GIP care in a partnering skilled nursing facility or hospital, or in our own McCarthy Care Center (MCC).
Located in Sandwich, McCarthy Care Center (MCC) is the area’s only specially licensed, hospice inpatient unit. At MCC, patient rooms are spacious and private with balconies and each room provide accommodations for loved ones. MCC has a home-like atmosphere where friends and family members, including children and pets, are welcome 24 hours a day.
