Our mission to serve all who need us extends to young people too. Through Hope Care for Kids, we provide services to enhance the lives of children with life-limiting illness, grief or loss.
Caring for a child with a life-limiting illness can be extremely challenging. Our pediatric palliative and hospice care services are here to help you, your family and your healthcare team to care for your child at home.
Our palliative care program provides pain and symptom management, assessment and case management, spiritual care, social services and counseling for your child and other family members – especially other siblings. We also provide volunteer support, respite care, emergency services and bereavement care for family members.
This palliative care service is partially funded through a Massachusetts Department of Public Health Pediatric Palliative Care Network grant – with the remaining costs being funded through donations.
Hospice is usually associated with adults – but we also offer hospice care for infants, children and adolescents with life-limiting conditions. We understand the difference between the needs of children and adults so a unique care plan is developed for every child.
The hospice approach is holistic and includes emotional, spiritual and practical support, in addition to medical care. Services are provided by a specially trained and licensed interdisciplinary team of experts including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides, homemakers, counselors and other volunteers. This team works closely with the child’s community doctors and other providers.
Any child with a life-limiting illness may be eligible. Diagnoses can include advanced or progressive cancer, major organ failures, HIV, cystic fibrosis, progressive genetic, neurological or metabolic disorders, renal failure, severe cerebral palsy or other conditions.

Children are profoundly affected by loss of a family member or friend. They need healing opportunities to process that loss. Our youth counselors provide support through play and art therapy, age-appropriate support groups, specialized workshops and home and office visits.
We also offer hands-on experiences with equine-assisted therapy and use the healing power of nature to assist children in their grieving process. Most insurance plans are accepted, with no one turned away due to inability to pay. Call us at (508) 957-0200 for our listing of the current schedule of groups for kids.
We want to help. We will work with your insurance company to determine the most effective way for your child to be covered. No eligible child or family will be turned away due to lack of insurance or ability to pay.
