Attleboro, MA — According to patients, families and caregivers in Massachusetts, HopeHealth’s hospice care and HopeHealth Community VNA’s home health care are among the nation’s best.
That’s measured through patient experience surveys by Strategic Healthcare Program (SHP), a leader in healthcare benchmarking. In 2021 in the Bay State, HopeHealth and HopeHealth Community VNA ranked in the top 20% of providers that SHP reviewed for the categories of hospice and home health, respectively — a pool of more than 1,000 hospice providers and more than 3,000 home health providers nationwide.
The high marks are recognized by two 2021 SHPBestTM “Superior Performer” patient satisfaction awards, one for each category.
In hospice, the SHPBest Superior award recognizes HopeHealth’s outstanding services for families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care in Massachusetts. Last year, that included a new initiative focused on individualized care planning, helping every patient and family create personal, meaningful goals for their end-of-life journey.
“At HopeHealth, we have an incredible hospice team, who works seamlessly to provide holistic and thoughtful care to our patients and their families,” says HopeHealth President & CEO Diana Franchitto. “Every day, we hear from family members about the comfort and support that this team provided when they needed it most. The SHPBest Superior award celebrates that work.”
In home care, the SHPBest Superior award comes with another distinction: This is the fifth year in a row that HopeHealth Community VNA, HopeHealth’s Massachusetts-based home care program, has achieved the ranking.
“Achieving a ‘Superior’ ranking for five years running speaks to how seriously we take our commitment to clinical excellence,” says Franchitto. “It’s a testament to the experienced and dedicated team at HopeHealth Community VNA, and their unwavering focus on patient-centered care. We dedicate this award to our patients, our families, and our staff.”
HopeHealth and HopeHealth Community VNA have long been at the forefront of delivering compassionate, high-quality care in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with roots in home care in 1908 and hospice in 1976. The recent SHPBest awards show that, more than a century later, that legacy is intact.
“SHP is proud to present the SHPBest awards to our top-performing customers. We commend these organizations for their continuous focus on delivering the highest quality of care to their patients,” said Rob Paulsson, President of SHP.

About HopeHealth and HopeHealth Community VNA
For more than a century, HopeHealth has provided high quality, compassionate care to people in various stages of illness in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Its roots began in home care in 1908 and then in hospice in 1976, coming together as HopeHealth in 2011 as a provider of home care, palliative care and hospice care. As the second oldest hospice in the country and one of the largest nonprofit providers of palliative and hospice care in New England, HopeHealth has set the gold standard in serious illness and end-of-life care. HopeHealth is the major teaching affiliate for hospice and palliative care of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. HopeHealth Community VNA has been serving southeastern Massachusetts since 1911, beginning as a community-based effort to curb the spread of tuberculosis. In 2021, what was then known as Community VNA joined the HopeHealth family of services to form HopeHealth Community VNA. For five years in a row, the organization has earned a “superior” patient satisfaction ranking from Strategic Healthcare Programs, placing it consistently among the nation’s top home care agencies.
