HopeHealth hospice ranks #2 in U.S. for caregiver and employee satisfaction

Providence, RI — HopeHealth, long known regionally as a leader in hospice care, is officially among the nation’s best too. The nonprofit organization ranks second in caregiver and employee satisfaction among the nation’s 50 largest hospices, according to a study published in the American Journal of Hospice & Palliative Medicine.

The study analyzed caregiver and employee feedback from several sources: Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems caregiver survey scores, Glassdoor employee satisfaction ratings, and Google reviews. Specific categories included communication; respect; emotional and spiritual support; and pain and symptom management.

In every category, HopeHealth is among the best of the best.

“This work is a privilege. We are all proud to see HopeHealth recognized nationally as not only an exceptional care provider, but an exceptional workplace,” says HopeHealth President & CEO Diana Franchitto, who also serves as vice chair of the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation.

“Every day, I hear from families and employees about how our organization touches their lives,” Franchitto adds. “Families rave about the skills and compassion of our team members. Employees talk about finding their calling here. It is rewarding to see that feedback reflected in these rankings. It highlights the very heart of HopeHealth’s mission: an extraordinary experience for patients, their caregivers and our employees.”

In addition to individual rankings, the study also revealed a sharp contrast between for-profit and nonprofit hospices. Among the 25 worst-ranked providers, 20 are for-profit. Meanwhile, 22 of the 25 top-ranked providers, including HopeHealth at number two, are nonprofit. Overall, researchers concluded: “Caregivers and employees have better experiences with nonprofits than for-profits.”

“We nonprofits define success as providing excellent care to our community, period,” says Franchitto. “These national rankings are another reminder of how seriously we take that commitment.”
