A Letter from our Grateful Family Member, Diane Bradley:

The other day, I received a beautiful letter from the grief counselors at HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care. It marked one year since my husband Tom passed. The letter reminded me to hold onto the good memories—and so many came flooding back:

Memories like Tom making our grandchildren laugh with his endless "dad jokes." His Thanksgiving mornings volunteering at the soup kitchen. And my favorite—Tom’s last great day, knee-deep in our koi pond, clearing autumn leaves.

There are hard memories, too. After his stroke, Tom lost control of so much, and our lives changed. I cared for him alone for three years, drawing on my 37 years as a nurse. Still, I doubted myself as his health declined and depression set in. Finally, I reached out for help.

At first, I thought hospice meant the end. But JoAnn, our HopeHealth case manager, reassured me: hospice helps loved ones live their best days for as long as possible. The HopeHealth team adjusted Tom’s medications, answered medical questions, and supported us in countless ways, big and small.

They treated Tom—and me—with compassion, becoming like family during his two years in hospice. Chaplain Mary Ellen bonded with Tom, helping him find peace. JoAnn and Darlene supported me, always finding time for coffee and a laugh.

On Tom’s final day, HopeHealth’s team was with us. As JoAnn and Darlene gently bathed Tom, preparing him to leave our home for the last time, I knew they were leaving me with one final beautiful memory – of Tom as the dignified, peaceful man he was.

HopeHealth’s incredible team—nurses, aides, chaplains, and more—gave us the gift of compassion and dignity, showing me that their work is not just a job, but a true honor.

With gratitude,
Diane Bradley

Making a gift of appreciated stock or other securities (such as bonds or mutual funds), not only allows you to have an immediate impact on the lives of our patients and families-but it may offer tax benefits, too.

Your gift may qualify you for unique tax benefits including an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift. You may also avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value of the stock.

Making a Gift through Retirement Assets

Your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other Qualified Retirement Plan can provide a tax-smart way to make an impact on HopeHealth either now or after the end of your lifetime.

The Qualified Charitable Distribution or QCD (sometimes called an “IRA Charitable Rollover”) is a great way to make a tax-free gift now to HopeHealth and satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution too.

Making a Gift through a Donor Advised Fund

The Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a popular way to make a charitable gift and can provide immediate tax benefits while making your charitable giving easier.

Make a gift now by recommending a grant to HopeHealth; or create a succession plan to recommend that HopeHealth receive all or a portion of the fund value upon the termination of the fund.
